Kuliouou Beach Park

Kuliouou Beach Park is one of Oahu's quiet little neighborhood parks with local families and groups enjoying the fresh air and open space.  In this piece, Howard captured Maunalua Bay Beach Park on the other side of the river and then went over to Mauanalua Bay Beach Park paint the view toward Kuliouou (where he was painting moments before).

The tide change is impressive for Hawaii, it was a challenge to keep up with the moving water line!

Original (14" x 11" Oil on Canvas)

This painting was done "Plein Air," which means outside, on location.  While doing Plein Air, one must capture the essence of each scene quickly as everything the artist sees from color to shadows changes.
